Being With I
By PJ Kane
Great Britain - Sheffield
I’m Sailing on the B&I
Against the backdrop
Of a promising peach skyline.
This sea could be a Lethe.
We all drink from its water of time to sometimes forget our reasons “why?”
On returning,
Mother will read me wide
So I’ll have to mend my strong Inside.
I’m permanently torn
from pillar to post.
Like an imprinted ghost in this sea.
In a seemingly endless cycle of to and fro
(back and forth)
like the waves below.
Oh, the lost romance of home
As I drink the black Mnemosyne Sweet-smelling memories
Ériu – emanating through chimneys
Of the turf, from land and its warming people.
But where will my journey stop? Heart shaped doubloon
Anchor shaped helium balloon
Or a casket of treasured bones,
To rest alone for awhile in the West on this icy Winters night.
Instead I roam.
With that jolting reminder to keep the poet alive.
A hymn to her Muse Polymnia I choose To protect me
On my odyssey.
