85 Women Artists respond to a specially commissioned poem from poet Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin.
In association with Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs, the Hamilton Gallery in Sligo commissioned a new poem from Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin. “St Brigid’s Well” the resulting poem was circulated in the autumn of last year to 85 invited women artists who then created an individual art work inspired by the poem. The exhibition opens to the public on St Brigid’s Day, February 1st. It can be viewed on-line at the gallery website. Previous St Brigid’s Day exhibitions hosted by Hamilton Gallery were based on the life and work of Leland Bardwell and Eva Gore-Booth.
To compliment the exhibition a specially commissioned film of Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin in conversation with author and journalist about the poets life and work, her new poem and the exhibition will also be streamed.
