Saxology Saxophone Quartet will give a lunchtime recital at Wexford County Council Offices in Carricklawn on Sunday 18th Dec. 2022, starting at 1pm. They will perform a mix of music that suits all tastes and will be joined by up and coming young drummer, Liam Berry. Saxology are delighted to welcome, as their special guest, singer, Aileen Donohoe who will be accompanied by the quartet.

Saxology
Saxology is a saxophone quartet that was formed in 2016 by four musicians who have a passion for saxophone music. They play a mixed genre of music, which include jazz, pop, and classical. The quartet perform at weddings and social occasions. They perform regularly during Culture Night, have made guest appearances with Valda Chamber Choir and have also performed their own concerts at Wexford Arts Centre and Johnstown Castle.

Saxology have recorded some of their favourite pieces, which you can hear on Youtube. The musicians consist of: Louise Malone (soprano/alto); Ann Wickham (alto); Patrick Lawlor (tenor); and Alan Mahon (baritone).

Saxology are delighted to welcome, up and coming drummer, Liam Berry to the group. Liam is currently studying percussion with Kevin Lawlor. He is a member of the rock band ‘Heater’ and the HFC Concert band. Liam also performs regularly with Wexford Sinfonia. He intends to study percussion at third level next year.

Aileen Donohoe
In London’s West End, Aileen Donohoe performed for five years in Wicked at the Victoria Apollo Theatre. Other West End Credits include; Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s, The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London and Mamma Mia at The Point Theatre, Dublin and in Paris, Lisbon, Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg.

Aileen performed the lead role of Trilby in the premiere production of Svengali, on board QE2 World Cruise. She was cast by Les Miserables composers; Alain Boublil and Claude Michel- Schonberg in their original production of Marguerite in London and also by Michel LeGrand and lyricist Don Black as an original cast member of the musical The Count of Monte Cristo at The Players Theatre, London.

A Date with Doris, Aileen’s one-woman show, based on the songs of Doris Day, has played at The National Concert Hall, Dublin, The Cork Opera House, The National Opera House, and has toured Ireland and the U.K.
