A special screening of Restored Pictures (2012), which depicts the life of Karima Aboud, Palestine’s first professional female photographer. Using her letters and photographs the film looks at the life and work of a woman in the years before the Nakba.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Director and Producer, Mahasan NASSERELDIN and Lina Bokhari, Director of Cinema Department at the Palestinian Ministry of Culture
Born in Jerusalem in 1976, Mahasen NASSERELDIN makes documentary and drama films. She studied film-directing at London’s Goldsmiths College. A university researcher and teacher in media production, she concentrates her work on mass communication, social change and women’s cinema in the Middle East.
Lina Bokhary is the Head of the Cinema Department at the Palestinian Ministry of Culture since 2014. She manages and supports ongoing programs that focus on investing in cinematic productions and the dissemination of cinema culture in Palestine. She will be discussing women’s participation and contribution to Palestinian cultural life.
