Registrations open through Sun 25 Dec
Following the success of Reverberations from an Irish Landscape (2021) and Live Bog Project (2020), Luke Casserly returns with a new offering as part of To Be Irish 2022 which will share the Irish midlands landscape with a global audience.
Distillation is a new project created in response to the cessation of the peat harvesting industry in Ireland. Environmental artist Luke Casserly has collaborated with renowned perfume maker Joan Woods to create a unique distillation of the Irish bog, the starting point for an olfactory performance which stretches out further conversations around our relationship to landscape, through scent.
Upon signing up, you will be sent a letter in the post from Wed 14 – Sun 25 Dec. In this letter, you will receive a link to a short audio essay accompanied by a physical sample of the essence, along with instructions on how to participate. A gentle invitation to get your nose in, and consider the past, present, and future of the Irish bog landscape. Registrations from Thu 1- Sun 25 Dec.*
Co-commissioned by Goethe Institut Irland & Irish Museum of Modern Art for IMMA Earth Rising 2022. Supported by Arts Council Ireland.
This element of the programme is supported by To Be Irish, an initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
* We endeavour to send out the letters as close to order date as possible. Delivery will be dependent on registration dates with some potentially arriving early in the New Year.
