BrigidFest 2022 is proud to present guest speaker Professor Orla Morrissey, at a luncheon celebrating Irish and Irish-Australian women. After graduating University College Cork as a medical student, Prof. Morrissey emigrated to Australia in 1993 and has been here ever since, later earning a Ph.D. from Monash University in 2009. In between, Prof. Morrissey became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2002 and gained a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology from Monash University in 2005. As an Infectious Diseases Physician, and Professor of Infectious Diseases at The Alfred Hospital and Monash University, she is at the forefront of treating and researching infections in immunocompromised patients. Prof Morrissey has been a staunch advocate for the care and protection of vulnerable people during the Covid-19 pandemic.
